Flight over Mars
British 3D animation expert Adrian Lark has created this virtual flight over the Candor Chasma canyon on Mars. The virtual camera flies 300 feet above the martian terrain and was created from NASA's image data using Mars Explorer and was captured in realtime.

The scale of the universe
Neat animation: this demonstrates the size of the universe in a freely zoomable scale. Kind of like a Powers of Ten in animation. Actually I like even more the wrong version which randomly mixes up all the elements. Where else can you find the Crab Nebula next to a quail egg and the Eiffel tower?

God's eye view

I can't decide if this is cool or lame: Biblical scenes as seen from space, like Google Maps. Made in 2007 by The Glue Society for Miami Pulse Contemporary Art Fair.

Saturn's death star

Moon? Hell no, this looks like the Death Star from Star Wars! Why it should hover around Saturn, nobody knows. The Cassini space probe brought back this nice photo from Saturn's moon Mimas in 2008. The left one is the moon.

Solar system infographic

Another excellent infographic of the solar system, this one also has the non-planets Ceres, Makemake, Eris and Haumea! Made by Michael Paukner who also has lots of marvelous graphics and posters on his Flickr account.

Planets of the solar system infographics

Very neat infographics for the planets of the solar system. Yes, including Pluto but excluding Eris. I guess it will be a while before the new school catches on here.

Iron Sky in production

Yes, we have been suckers for the Nazis-went-to-the-moon Scifi flick Iron Sky since it's been first mentioned, but according to Finnish web site YLE it's now actually going into production:
Producers will begin filming the Iron Sky feature film in Frankfurt next spring, and they hope to have the movie finished by the end of 2010.

The known universe
Nice video visualizing our understanding of the farthest reaches of space. It takes you across the Milky Way and past the farthest objects discernible from Earth, a couple of billion light years out. Neat, neat. Kind of like a new and updated Powers of Ten.

Tour of the ISS
An extensive video tour of the International Space Station-- after watching the whole video, you should be able to find your way around and work the thing in an emergency.
