Sesame Street augmented reality

Wild Palms

This goes way back, I remember the show airing in the 90ies on TV, and it is clear that this mini-series had an extreme influence on science fiction later on. So many elements were picked up by movies like The Matrix or Strange Days. Produced by Oliver Stone and starring James Belushi, this is really a high point of television entertainment and highly recommended.

This kind of "augmented reality" application makes it hard not to own a smartphone: it shows you on the screen where to find the nearest subway station and how far it is away. Also, if you point it down, you see the actual lines running around you. It's nifty and exactly what you need to get around in places you are not familiar with.
