Autochromes of Albert Kahn
In 1909, French millionaire Albert Kahn started a huge project to document his time photographically, sending a group of photographers to more than 50 locations all around the world. Using the recently developed autochrome process, the photos created the first large collection of color photographs, numbering over 72000 today. The BBC just did a television series and a book on Kahn -- some of the pictures from WWI were mentioned on this blog before.
